Director of Marketing
We are an exciting startup company and are expanding our management team.
The Director of Marketing
position presents the unique opportunity to work with the executive management team and develop into an executive
role with a fast-growing business.
Major responsibilities:
• Develop and execute global marketing strategies for online games including customer acquisition and retention campaigns, online product promotions and distributions, ad placement, data analysis, e-mail marketing; Optimize ad inventory and leverage keyword placement for online traffic generation and search engine optimization
• Coordinate research to guide product development, including focus groups, online surveys, customer interviews, and other forms of market research; Develop, update, and present metrics to evaluate company marketing and promotional activities; Provide quantitative analysis related to ROI based online marketing
• Create programs and drive activities to generate positive editorial coverage for the company, and its game titles and business; Manage media relations and report weekly on media coverage; Oversee the development and pitch of unique media stories on product features, trends or lifestyle elements; Plan and coordinate production and marketing press tours both on-site and on the road with editors
• Supervise the research, writing, and editing of press releases, newsletters, print ads, online ads, style guides, product alerts, brochures and fact sheets, media communication packages and speaking points, blurbs for email blasts, website landing pages and supporting pages; Assisting in editing of game stories, game character dialogues, and game manuals
• Managing, hiring, and evaluation of marketing and sales staff
Qualification requirements:
• Deep knowledge of the online computer game market, particularly the MMORPG segment, is essential. Core understanding of the hardcore and professional computer game culture in America, Asia and Europe
• Media strategist and extensive experience in media pitching; Know-how on generating national and regional media coverage; Proven skills at media relationship building – must have excellent communication skills, and outgoing personality presence in meetings; Established contacts in game enthusiast press, consumer media and online outlets (print and broadcast)
• Knowledge of fundamental principles of advertising and marketing, with hands-on marketing experience preferably in a B to C environment, including trade show staff preparation, planning and support, product launch and promotion programs and events, media tours, etc; Search engine optimization and keyword advertising experience
• Proven personnel management and team building skills
• Skilled writer with experience drafting press releases, fact sheets, pitch letters, etc, and understanding of AP Style are a plus
• Knowledge of the consumer mobile and wireless content market, and related industries, is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, English, Advertising, Journalism, or related field
